1Livingston, a New York City Federalist, was a lawyer, businessman, and politician. He was a director of the Bank of New York, a stockholder of the Society for Establishing Useful Manufactures, and first president of the New York branch of the Bank of the United States. In 1792 he was a member of the New York Senate.
