Dear Sir
Just now returned from Bedford I find here your favor of Dec. 11. and without a moment’s loss of time I return you my renewed notes for the banks, and repeat the assurances of my great esteem & respect

On this date TJ recorded renewing the notes enclosed here, one for his standing loan from the Bank of Virginia for $2,000 and the other from the Richmond branch of the Second Bank of the United States for $3,000 ( , 2:1340).
