To James Madison from Arthur S. Brockenbrough, 11 December 1826
From Arthur S. Brockenbrough
Decr 11th 1826
Gentlemen
The foregoing statement shows the deficit on the 1st day of October of this year—the Deficit on the 1 January 1827—the sum required to meet the demands, after the present contracts are completed—and the probable amt to finish the balance of the work, pay all the debts, &c. I consider those estimates quite sufficient—a few days will determine whether the supposed estimate to Dinsmore & Neilson of $10.000 is sufficient or not for Their work, I have not included the sperate subscriptions in this estimate. I have the honor to be with great respect your Obt sevt
AS Brockenbrough Proctor
P.S Since writing the above I recollect of having heared that some additional compensation had been made to some of the professors, not having recd any report on the subject, I do not know what amt to place to their credit. AS B.
