Charleston [S.C.] May. 7. 1791.

Miss Elliott presents her compliments to The President of the United States, and as a small tribute of her grateful respect, begs that he will Honor her by the acceptance of a Sword Knot.

This correspondent has not been positively identified but might have been one of the in-laws of GW’s cousin William Washington, who had married Jane Reiley Elliott, daughter of Charles Elliott of Charleston.
