Sir—
I have communicated to Judge Phillips the contents of the several letters with which you honor’d me on the 16th of April1— and I have the pleasure to inform you that the young Lees & Brents mentioned by your Nephew will probably be admitted at Andover,2 and if it happens otherwise they will be received at Exeter into the Academy there which is an Establishment in all respects similar & enjoys the equal patronage of Judge Phillips.3 Mrs Cabot desires to join me in expressing to you & Mrs Washington those sentiments of respect & Esteem with which I am Dear Sir your most obedient Servant4

1. On 16 April, GW received a letter from his nephew William Augustine Washington dated 10 April (not found). GW forwarded the letter to Cabot the following day (see GW to Washington, 21 April). GW’s cover letter, if any, has not been found.
2. Augustine Washington and Bushrod Washington, Jr., enrolled at Phillips Andover Academy that year, as did Cassius Lee (1779–98) and Francis Lightfoot Lee (1782–1850). The Brents have not been identified.
3. Phillips Exeter Academy was established in 1781 by John Phillips (1719–1795), uncle of Samuel Phillips.
4. Cabot had married his cousin Elizabeth Higginson (1756–1826) in 1774.
