Treasury Department, January 16, 1795. The letter which Hamilton wrote to John Adams on January 16, 1795, was sent on the same date to Muhlenberg in his capacity as Speaker of the House of Representatives.2

2. On January 16, 1795, “The Speaker laid before the House a letter from the Secretary of the Treasury, stating … he has digested and prepared a plan … for the further support of public credit, which is ready for communication to the House of Representatives….

“Resolved, That the Secretary of the Treasury be informed that this House is ready to receive the communication therein referred to.” (Journal of the House description begins Journal of the House of Representatives of the United States (Washington, 1826), I, II, III, IV. description ends , II, 295.)

On January 19, 1795, H’s “Report on a Plan for the Further Support of Public Credit,” January 16, 1795, was communicated to the House (Journal of the House description begins Journal of the House of Representatives of the United States (Washington, 1826), I, II, III, IV. description ends , II, 296).
