Doctor Percival requests the honour of Doctor Franklin’s acceptance of the inclosed Volumes, as Memorials of his cordial Esteem and respect.—7

7. This is Percival’s first extant letter since January, 1775: XXI, 446. The volumes he enclosed were probably his A Father’s Instructions (for which see XXXVI, 288n) and the first edition of its sequel, A Socratic Discourse on Truth and Faithfulness … (Warrington, 1781).
