7. Dubuysson’s efforts seem eventually to have enjoyed some success. He had already been appointed a colonel of marines (naval and colonial troops) and on June 12, 1782, he was given a pension and a salary until he received a regular command. He did not find such a command, however. In 1785 he received the cross of St. Louis and was made a viscount: DBF; Bodinier, Dictionnaire; Lasseray, Les Français, I, 193–4.
