Dr sir
I this Morning received your favor of the 17 Instant with the Letters to which it refers. your last favor was misdated as you suppose—and will be altered agreable to your request.2 By a New York paper of the 17th, it appears that Admiral Biron arrived the preceding day, with the princess Royal of 90 Guns & the Colloden of 743—His whole fleet has now got in except the ship that put back to portsmouth. 1. Although GW’s general orders and much of his correspondence for the next ten weeks were dated at Fredericksburg, his headquarters for most of that time was located about four miles northeast of Fredericksburg at Pawling, N.Y. (see GW to Johann Kalb, 22 Sept., and note 1 to that document; George Clinton to GW, 24 Sept., source note; Robert Hanson Harrison to Alexander McDougall, 4 Oct., in GW to the President of the Maryland Senate and the Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates, 5 Oct., source note; and GW to Charles Scott, 8 Oct.).

3. At this place on the draft manuscript, Harrison wrote and then struck out the following phrase: “These two Ships with those arrived before.” The newspaper was the Royal American Gazette (New York) of 17 Sept., which has not been found.
