Sir

Agreeable to your Directions I have forwarded all the Arms and Accoutrements fit for use that were in the Hands of the Agents, lately taken from the Scotch Prisoners.1 The Agents, without my knowledge, parted with part of the Arms; part of them were taken by the Commander of a Connecticut Privateer who assisted in taking the Transports;2 and some I am told were thrown overboard by the Prisoners, and others were broken; but I have not been able to obtain an exact Return of the Arms taken. I am Your Excellency’s Obedient Humble Servant

On this date Nathaniel Barber, Jr., commissary of stores for the eastern department, sent to Joshua Huntington at Norwich 73 firearms, 60 bayonets, 73 bayonet belts, 73 slings, 73 shot pouches, 50 cartridge boxes, and 73 knapsacks (Conn. Hist. Soc. Col. description begins Collections of the Connecticut Historical Society. 31 vols. Hartford, 1860–1967. description ends , 20 [1923], 312).

2. The Connecticut navy brig Defence, commanded by Capt. Seth Harding, participated in the capture of the transports George, Annabella, and Lord Howe during June.
