Sir

I had the honour of writing to Your Excellency on the 21st Inst. by Fred. Weir.1

This will inclose Duplicates of Acts of Congress of the 19th January & 18th March—also an Act of the 23d for accepting the Resignation of Colonel Webb.2

Colo. Armand who promises to deliver this with great expedition will not afford me time to send to the Secretary’s Office for the dates of two of Your Excellency’s favors which I think came to hand since my last,3 these shall be properly noted when I have the honour of next addressing your Excellency, meantime I remain with the utmost respect & Esteem &ca.

1. Frederick Weare (Weir), whom Laurens endorsed as “an honest careful Man & of good responsibility,” acted as a messenger for Laurens at least from December 1777 through March 1778 (Laurens to William Heath, 7 Mar., MHi: Heath Papers; see also Smith, Letters of Delegates description begins Paul H. Smith et al., eds. Letters of Delegates to Congress, 1774–1789. 26 vols. Washington, D.C., 1976–2000. description ends , 9:236).

3. Laurens apparently is referring to GW’s second letter of 16 Mar. and GW’s letter of 18 March.
