To James Madison from Robert Patton, 6 December 1810 (Abstract)

§ From Robert Patton1

6 December 1810, Fredericksburg. Has received JM’s card advising of his draft in favor of Mr. Stone for $388.85, and the amount has been paid. Forwards him $502.50, the balance remaining per the annexed memorandum. “This remmittance has been delayed a day or two that I might Avail myself of the Opportunity of the bearer Mr Maury going to the City.”

RC (DLC). 1 p. A statement at the foot of the page shows a balance of £267 8s. 1½d. (including £4 4s. for two barrels of flour credited to JM’s brother by mistake). JM’s draft in favor of Stone was for £116 13s. 1½d., leaving a cash balance of £150 15s., or $502.50.
