1. The enclosure was probably a 9 Dec. 1815 letter (1 p.) from Stephen Decatur to Crowninshield, accepting his nomination to the Board of Navy Commissioners, and conveying his thanks to JM for the appointment (DNA: RG 45, Captains’ Letters).
