§ Presidential Proclamation

16 January 1810, Washington. On 2 Jan. the president, with the advice and consent of the Senate, ratified and confirmed the treaty concluded at Fort Wayne on 30 Sept. 1809 between the U.S. and the Delaware, Potawatomi, Miami, and Eel River Indians. Requires all officeholders and citizens “faithfully to observe and fulfil” the treaty.

Ms, two copies (DNA: RG 233, President’s Messages; and DNA: RG 46, Executive Proceedings, 11B-C1). 7 pp. In a clerk’s hand. Enclosed in JM’s 28 Feb. message to Congress. Published in National Intelligencer, 26 Feb. 1810. The treaty is printed in ASP description begins American State Papers: Documents, Legislative and Executive, of the Congress of the United States ... (38 vols.; Washington, 1832-61). description ends , Indian Affairs, 1:760–61.
