To James Madison from James Taylor, 9 November? 1809 (Abstract)

§ From James Taylor

9 November? 1809, Newport. Capt. Jervis Cutler has solicited Taylor’s intervention on his behalf. Cutler has been dismissed from the service, probably owing to an allegation that he had interfered in the election of a congressman in Ohio. Cutler denies charge. Taylor praises Cutler’s abilities as a recruiter.

RC (DLC). 3 pp. Dated “9th. 1809.” Docketed by JM. Address on cover indicates Cutler carried the letter from Kentucky.
