§ From William Jones. 14 October 1814, Navy Department. “I have the honor to enclose, herewith, a list of the Promotions and appointments, in the Navy, marine Corps, and Flotilla Service, of the United States, during the late Recess of Congress.”

Letterbook copy and letterbook copy of enclosures (DNA: RG 45, LSP); enclosures (DNA: RG 46, Executive Proceedings, Nominations, 13B–A3). Letterbook copy 1 p. Enclosures (2 pp.; printed in Senate Exec. Proceedings, description begins Journal of the Executive Proceedings of the Senate of the United States of America (3 vols.; Washington, 1828). description ends 2:573–74) listed forty-one promotions and eight appointments in the navy and Marine Corps, as well as the appointments of Joshua Barney and Jacob Lewis as captains, and Solomon Rutter and Solomon Frazier as lieutenants, in the flotilla service. JM forwarded the lists to the Senate on 17 Oct. 1814 (DNA: RG 46, Executive Proceedings, Nominations, 13B–A3).
