9 December 1804, Philadelphia. “Although my Health is not as yet perfectly restored,1 I trust that I shall be able to undertake the Journey to Washington on Wednesday next, of which I have the Honor to inform you in order that you may cause your Commands to be addressed to me accordingly.”
