27 April 1805, London. No. 57. “I have the honor herewith to transmit Copy of a note which I received from Lord Mulgrave on the 25th: Instant notifying the Blockade of Cadiz and St. Lucar, and of my reply to the same.”1

1. The enclosures (9 pp.; docketed by Wagner), are three copies of Lord Mulgrave’s 25 Apr. 1805 circular asking Erving to notify all U.S. consuls and merchants in England of the blockade of the ports of Cádiz and Sanlúcar de Barrameda, and two copies of Erving to Mulgrave, 26 Apr. 1805, acknowledging receipt of the circular and assuring Mulgrave he would notify the U.S. government and all American consuls and vice-consuls “in His Majesty’s Dominions” of the blockade.
