§ From George W. Erving

21 February 1805, London. No. 51. “By this conveyance the London Packet, Capt Mc:Dougall bound to Philadelphia, I transmit four Packages of Newspapers, and two others containing the Documents relating to the rupture between this Country and Spain as they have been printed for the use of the House of Commons, & consisting of four numbers.”1

1. The enclosures have not been found, but on 25 Jan. and 4 and 7 Feb. 1805, the London Times printed several pages of documents on negotiations with Spain that had been described as “presented by his Majesty’s command to both Houses of Parliament. 24th January, 1805” (Parliamentary Debates, 3:61). The entire collection was published as Papers Relative to the Discussion with Spain in 1802, 1803, and 1804 (London, 1805).
