1. The public meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 31. BF had been unable to attend the two previous public meetings on account of gout and the stone (XL, 495n; XLII, 5), and Vicq d’Azyr assumed—probably correctly—that he would not travel to Paris for this one either. The Jour. de Paris announced the meeting on Aug. 28, and reported on the proceedings in the issues of Sept. 2 and 4.
