From Broome and Platt1

New Haven [Connecticut] June 30, 1786. Authorizes Hamilton to collect certain debts owed to the firm of Broome and Platt and to advise “Our Saml Broome … whether there will be room in your Office for his Son next Fall.”2

1Samuel Broome and Jeremiah Platt established the firm of Broome and Platt in New Haven in 1775. It was dissolved in November, 1786. See Broome to H, April 18, 1786.

2The endorsement on this letter reads: “Col Hamilton is requested by Mr S Broome of New H[aven] not to proceed as the within letter directs till he again hears from him. 1 Septem. 1787.”
