Instant, Nothwithstanding four Vessells arrived from America last week, we remain Still without any writings of Mr. Morris, We are of your opinion bussiness of greater Consequence is the Cause of his Silence, but it Should not be less agreable to have his approbation on our behaviour. Your directions about the lottery of premiums Shall be duly observed and you may rely on our punctuality to advise Mr. Morris of it.
Our friends Messrs. 1. JA kept a list of orders drawn on the Paris banking firm of Van den Yver Frères for personal and family expenses from Sept. 1784 through May 1785. He drew the first order that appears there for 4,800 livres tournois on 10 Sept. 1784 (, 3:171–172). Here and elsewhere, where the consortium used the pound sign to indicate livres tournois, the editors have followed it with the livre tournois symbol (₶) in brackets.
