[New York City] October 28, 1786. “I shall in a very short time have an urgent call for a sum of money to make up which I shall be glad to receive the amount of my account for services in the controversy between Cheesecocks and Wawayanda,2 or a considerable part of it.”

1. This letter is addressed to “The Agents for managing the Controversy on behalf of the proprietors of Wawayanda.” The envelope was addressed to “William Wickham, Esquire.”

2. Cheesecocks and Waywayanda were adjoining land patents in southern New York on the New Jersey border.
