My dear Sir,

The inclosed papers contain some of the debates of the Convention of South Carolina, and a vote of a vast majority, which shews the dispositions of that Body upon the Constitution.1 These papers will be of use to you, and therefore I take this the last moment that Offers before the departure of the post to forward them. 1The N.Y. Daily Advertiser of 29 May carried an item from a Charleston newspaper, dated 22 May, containing an account of a motion to adjourn the convention until the next October. This motion was defeated by a vote of 135 to 89. The N.Y. Journal of the same day printed an extract of a letter from Charleston, dated 22 May, summarizing the proceedings of the convention.
