George Mercer to Thomas Walker, 23 December 1755

George Mercer to Thomas Walker

[Winchester, 23 December 1755]

To the Commissary

Deliver Sergeant Campbell1 and his Party (eleven in number) three days provision.

LB, DLC:GW.

1This was almost certainly Sgt. Henry Campbell, whom George Mercer ordered on 11 Dec. to conduct wagons up from Alexandria and who deserted at Winchester on 24 Dec. after being accused of stealing from the wagons. It is unlikely that he is Hugh Campbell, a sergeant in Capt. William Bronaugh’s company.
