1. The enclosed letterpress copy of the advertisement, written by GW and dated at Mount Vernon, 20 Sept., reads: “On the 20th of November next in Alexandria, (being Court day), will be exposed for sale one or more covering Jacks, & several young ones of different ages & sizes; all descended from Royal Gift (an imported Jack from Spain, upwards of 15 hands high) out of Imported Jennies from Malta full 14 hands high.
“The terms of sale (or if not sold, of letting them for one or more seasons to cover) will then be made known: the payments may be made easy to the purchaser, Bond & security being given for the amount, with interest.
“At the sametime and place, sundry horses & mares will be offered for sale. The latter having been to the Jacks, are probably with foal. James Anderson—Managr.”
