I have the honor to transmit you herewith a return of Ordnance and Military Stores, which has this moment been delivered to me by the Superintendant.1 I am with the greatest respect Your obedient Servant

1The enclosure, entitled Return of Ordnance, and the most important Articles of Military Stores belonging to the United States at the several Posts; as herein stated, was the long-delayed product of an order from McHenry to Samuel Hodgdon of 25 August. See McHenry to GW, 19 Sept., n. 17. The 35–page return, signed by Samuel Hodgdon and dated 15 Nov., lists types, quantity, and places of deposit of ordnance.
