[Trenton, August 6, 1798. On this date McHenry wrote to Hamilton “stating that he is indisposed and feverish, and told of the rejection of the nomination of W. S. Smith as adjutant general,1 and of the need that the appointments should be hastened.”2 Letter not found.]
