To Thomas Sully

Monticello Apr. 5. 21.

Th: Jefferson forwards to mr Sully three letters which came under cover to him yesterday evening and salutes him with friendly respect

RC (MHi); dateline at foot of text; with Robert Gilmor’s signed notation on verso: “Note from Ex-President Jefferson to Mr Sully the Artist, sent me by the latter in 1830,” and his additional notation: “Signer of the Declaration of Independance.” Not recorded in SJL. Enclosures not found.
