§ From Alexander Stephens

6 August 1810, Wilkes County, Georgia. Inquires how and where he may obtain land bounties for his military services between 1755 and 1762 and also for his losses in the Revolution.

RC (DNA: RG 107, LRRS, S-181:5). 1 p. Docketed by a War Department clerk as received 27 Aug. 1810. JM referred the letter to the War Department, which informed Stephens that Congress had not yet passed legislation awarding land bounties for military service between 1755 and 1762 (John Smith to Stephens, 27 Aug. 1810 [DNA: RG 107, LSMA]).
