To James Madison from Sylvanus Bourne, 10 January 1806 (Abstract)

From Sylvanus Bourne, 10 January 1806 (Abstract)

§ From Sylvanus Bourne. 10 January 1806, Amsterdam. “In transmitting the inclosed Gazettes I take the occasion to repeat that my friends Mesr Geo Salmon & Wm Taylor Esqs of Baltimore I presume will have no objection to execute in my behalf the customary bond1 for the faithfull execution of the duties of my office & I beg leave to refer you to those Gentlemen on this point.”

RC (DNA: RG 59, CD, Amsterdam, vol. 1). 1 p. Incorrectly dated 1805 by Bourne; conjectural date assigned here based on Wagner’s 10 Jan. 1806 docket. Bourne wrote JM a similar letter, dated 20 Jan. 1805, and Wagner docketed it as 20 Jan. 1806 (ibid.). Both letters are filed at January 1805.
