I nominate Jonathan Williams of Pensylvania, major, to be Inspector of fortifications.
Joseph Willcox of (Killingsworth in) Connecticut to be Marshal for the district of Connecticut in the place of Philip B. Bradley resigned.

The Senate approved the nomination of Jonathan Williams on 14 Dec. and immediately informed TJ (Senate to TJ, 14 Dec. 1801, RC in DLC, attested by Samuel A. Otis, endorsed by TJ as received 17 Dec., also endorsed by TJ: “approbn of Williams”; , 1:397). The Senate did not consent to the nomination of Joseph Willcox until 21 Dec. and TJ signed a commission for him the same day (FC in Lb in DNA: RG 59, MPTPC; , 1:399).
