I have the honor to submit to your view a letter from Colonel Pickering dated the 28h ultimo and an enclosure, and also certain communications received from Lt Dinsmoor who left this city as the conductor and agent to the Cherokee nation of Indians.1 I am Sir with the highest respect your obdt Servant

1. The letter from Timothy Pickering follows; that of Silas Dinsmoor (Dinsmore; 1766–1847) has not been identified. Dinsmoor, who graduated from Dartmouth College in 1791, was commissioned as a lieutenant in the U.S. army corps of artillerists and engineers in June 1794. He remained an agent to the Cherokee Indians until 1799 and served as Choctaw agent from 1802 to 1814.
