Portsmouth, New Hampshire, November 30, 1792. “I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 1st. instant1 accompanying Commissions for John Adams as first Mate & Benj Gunnison as second Mate of the Revenue Cutter Scammel. I beg leave to Nominate Samuel Odiorne2 for the third Mate of Said Cutter.…”
