Having amended my proposals in conformity to the ideas you were pleased to suggest, permit me (with sincerest thanks for the favors conferred on me in the commencement of my undertaking) to enclose you a few copies, on the eve of your departure, in hopes they may come into the hands of some of your friends in Virginia. I have the honor to be, with perfect respect, Sir, your most obliged humble Servant,

The enclosure probably consisted of Copies of Carey’s undated broadside proposing that a subscription be opened to publish The American Remembrancer, or Proceedings of the Old Congress, a work which was never printed (see Evans, description begins Charles Evans, Clifford K. Shipton, and Roger P. Bristol, comps., American Bibliography: A Chronological Dictionary of all Books, Pamphlets and Periodical Publications Printed in the United States of America from … 1639 … to … 1820, Chicago and Worcester, Mass., 1903–59, 14 vols. description ends No. 46708, which assigns the year 1793 to the broadside).
