[Philadelphia] April 4, 1791. Presents his compliments to Carey and declines an invitation to a dinner of the Hibernian Society.

1. Carey, publisher of The American Museum, had emigrated to Philadelphia from Ireland in 1784. Early in the seventeen-nineties he organized the Hibernian Society for the relief of Irish immigrants.
