May 10.” As printed in APS description begins American Philosophical Society description ends , Transactions, iv (1799), 219–20, Williams’s table, called “A Meteorological Journal, made with a View to discover the Height of the Country, at various Places, from Richmond, to the Alleghany Mountains in Bottetourt, Virginia.—1791,” contains several variations in text as noted below, additional columns for time of day, weather, and distance from Richmond, as well as additional places, more complete names for some sites, and five notes adding details of some observations.
