6This was presumably JW’s request about the Aurora, for which see his letter of Feb. 4. An answer had already come indirectly through Castries (annotation of JW to BF, Feb. 29), and WTF had forwarded Necker’s answer (now missing) to JW on March 31; see our annotation of JW to BF, April 2.
