I certify that Major Forsyth had served in the Army of the United States as aid de Camp to Major General Stevens2 during his continuation in the service.

1. Forsyth had been a captain in Henry Lee’s Battalion of Light Dragoons from July 1, 1778, to September 5, 1779, when he resigned to take a commission in the Virginia militia.

2. Edward Stevens was brigadier general of the Virginia militia from 1779 to 1782.
