General Orders

Head-Quarters Morristown tuesday March 21st 80.

Parole: Parol Derry. C. Signs Dublin. Dundee—

A Corporal and three men from each of the Maryland brigades and a Corporal and three men from Maxwell’s brigade are to be sent to Commissary Gamble tomorrow morning to be put as guards at the Mills now grinding grain for the Army.1

Adj. Gen. Alexander Scammell’s orderly book entry for this date includes an additional general order: “A Corporal and six men with three Days Provision to be sent from Hands Brigade to finish Baron Steubens Guard Hutt” (orderly book, 17 Oct. 1779–22 March 1780, DNA: RG 93, Orderly Books, 1775–1783, vol. 33).
