General Orders

Head-Quarters Morristown Monday—Decr 27th [1779]

Parole—Hiram— C. Signs St Johns. Masons.

Major Reed will join the detachment under General Irvine in place of Major C. Stewart, absent on furlough.1

Adj. Gen. Alexander Scammell’s orderly book entry for this date includes additional general orders: “Lord Stirlings Division gives the Main Guard Tomorrow.

“General St Clairs Division will furnish a Corporal & six Men to drive Horses into the Country—They will attend the Forage Master Genl with their packs & three Days Provisions tomorrow Morning 9 o’Clock.

“A subaltern two Serjeants & 40 Rank & file from the Connecticut line for Fatigue tomorrow at the Orderly room” (orderly book, 17 Oct. 1779–22 March 1780, DNA: RG 93, Orderly Books, 1775–1783, vol. 33).
