Captain Paul Brigham of the 8th Connecticut Regiment wrote in his diary on this date that Israel Evans, chaplain of Brig. Gen. Enoch Poor’s brigade, “Preached to the Division his Excellency attended with the Lady washington” (“Brigham Diary,” description begins Edward A.
