1. John Faulcon was president of the Agricultural Society of Surry County, Virginia (see , 2:591 n.). The enclosed letter was likely addressed to JM as president of the Agricultural Society of Albemarle; JM forwarded it to Randolph, who was the society’s president in 1828 (True, “Minute Book of the Albemarle Agricultural Society,” printed in Annual Report of the American Historical Association for […] 1918, 1:338).
