George Washington to Charles, Earl Cornwallis

Middlebrook [New Jersey] June 6, 1777. States that all supplies for prisoners must go through Colonel Elias Boudinot’s hands. Assures Cornwallis that the greatest care will be taken with these supplies. Is surprised at Cornwallis’ reasoning concerning the murder of William Martin.1
