ALS, PPAmP: John Vaughan (EJ: 02569). Duplicate, NNC (EJ: 08169).

1Letter not found.

2Engraving not found. The engraving was probably based on either Stuart’s 1796 life-size portrait of GW held by the Marquis of Lansdowne or his earlier portrait of 1795.

3Probably Dublin-born William Constable, a wealthy merchant and land speculator of New York. Constable travelled to Europe for the purpose of selling land that he had acquired in northern New York.
