By yesterdays Post I wrote your Excellency & therein Inclosed, Copy of an Invoice of SA No. 1 a 3––3 Cases Scotch Arms. With this you will receive Viâ New London to the Care of Nathl Shaw Esqr: No. 8 & 9––2 Cases more Scotch Arms as Pr Invo: herewith, & likewise No. 4 & 5 a Chest & Barrell qt: Arms & Flints from Thos Green Esqr: being Contl Property in his hands as Pr Invo: herewith, all of wch wish safe to your hands,1 & am with great respect Your Excellencys most Obedt & very humble Servt

1. Tillinghast’s enclosed invoice of this date shows that the two additional cases of Scotch arms contained a total of 75 arms, 75 bayonets, 11 broadswords, and “thirteen brass mounted Hangers [cutlasses] belonging to Mr Greens Invoice” (DLC:GW). Thomas Greene’s invoice of this date says that the chest and barrel that he sent to New London contained 14,500 flints, 20 small arms, and 17 cutlasses in addition to the 13 cutlasses packed in one of the cases of Scotch arms (DLC:GW). On the reverse of each invoice there is a receipt for the contents signed by Ezekiel Cheever at New York on 27 July. In addition, Robert Hanson Harrison acknowledged receipt of these items at New York in a brief letter to Tillinghast written on behalf of GW on 29 July (DLC:GW).
