From James Madison to Robert Smith, 3 June 1806

To Robert Smith

Department of State June 3rd. 1806.

Sir.

It being understood, that the President has directed the Brig Franklin to be prepared as a present to the Bay of Tunis,1 I have the honor to request that your Agents may be ordered to put her in a complete state for the voyage, by providing her with officers, crew, stores &c. I am &c.
