Quincy July 20th 1799.

Sir

I have received the Spectateur du Nord with your second letter of the 13th. I wish we had at Hamburgh a consul whose correspondence was a little more copious in political & commercial information in these days of great events & important prospects. Native Americans alone have the proper feelings.
