Providence, November 3, 1800. Recommends “the bearer Mr. Nathl. Greene Olney,1 a kinsman of mine,” who “now goes to New York in order to establish himself in Mercantile pursuits.”

1Nathaniel Greene Olney was the nephew of Jeremiah Olney and the son of Christopher Olney. On November 29, 1800, The Providence Gazette carried the following notice: “Christopher C. Olney, and Nathaniel G. Olney, have entered into Copartnership, under the Firm of Christopher C. Olney and Company, in Providence, and Nathaniel G. Olney and Company, Commission Merchants in New-York.…” The New York firm was at 216 Front Street.
