§ To Albert Gallatin. 3 December 1805, Department of State. “I have to request that you will please to issue your warrant on the appropriations for Barbary purposes for one thousand dollars in favor of Daniel Brent, for defraying the expences of the Tunisian Embassy now in this City; the said Daniel Brent to be charged and held accountable for the same.”1
